  1. Implementing Healthcare Messaging with XML
    XML 2007, 3 December 2007

XML is great, and we all love it. But it can get in your way too. In the Netherlands a national EHR is set up, using XML, HL7v3 and Web Services. We'll take a look at lessons learned and the pitfalls to be avoided.

  2. Identiteit en Misverstand
    LAC 2007, 21 November 2007

Een verkenning naar identiteit en semantiek in gegevensuitwisseling. Filosofische grondslagen en een pleidooi voor het gebruik van globaal unieke identifiers.

  3. Transport van HL7 berichten
Themamiddag Architecture, HL7 Nederland, May 2007

    Overzicht HL7 en Web Services

  4. Koppelvlak 2.0, Versiecontrole in de keten

Interactieve workshop over semantiek en ketenautomatisering, gebaseerd op het uitwerken van de casus "persoonsnaam" door de deelnemers.

  6. Going Horizontal - Comparing Open Data Vocabularies Across Domains
Presentation at XTech 2006, May 2006

The Dutch government is actively promoting the use of digital exchanges. XML-based open standard vocabularies are rapidly appearing in Healthcare, Criminal Justice, Social Security and Financial Reporting. Currently the developments are taking place within not across those separate domains. It's about time to compare the different approaches. What is different and what's the same? Where is the common ground, and what can be gained by standardization? What works and what doesn't in building vocabularies?

  8. Implementing Web Services for Healthcare - Lessons & Pitfalls

  9. Business Maps: Topic Maps Go B2B! (English)

Presentation given at XML Europe 2002 in Barcelona, Spain. Topic Maps are an excellent vehicle to store the information in B2B-mappings for reuse. This are 'Business Maps': portable, reusable mappings. The presentation contained a demo of Business Maps. This site contains the paper, presentation and demo files. See also the next presentation, "What is 'is'?", of which this is a continuation.

  10. What is 'is'? (English)

Presentation given at XML 2001 in Orlando, Florida on interoperability between B2B-vocabularies. The presentation starts with a philosophical introduction on reference, based on the work of Frege and Wittgenstein. Next the consequences on IT are sketched and current approaches to B2B interoperability. Finally I make a proposal for an improvement: we need to store the knowledge in mappings for later reuse.
